BKB Globe: Empowering Global Logistics with 20 Years of Expertise

BKB Globe is a family owned, German international freight forwarder with over two decades of experience in global logistics, particularly in sea freight services. 

With a team of 18 experienced professionals, many of whom have been with BKB for >10 years, BKB has built a strong reputation for their expertise and customer-centric approach, which has won them long-term contracts with, e.g., a large European discount chain. 

The Situation: BKB collaborated with their agents via email before AGX

BKB Globe collaborates with a wide network of agents located across different regions. They had set up a basic EDI integration with their main agent in Asia, but not with further partners, and the EDI did not include document transfer due to limitations of their agent’s TMS. 

While their TMS, Riege Scope, was built out well for handling shipments after pre-alert, all communication with origin relied on emails - which is hence where all booking data was stored as well.

  2. Limited ‘To-Do’ Visibility: Operations users had a frequent feeling of ‘have I forgotten something’, as to-do’s were captured on post-its or paper files, or buried in email chains.

  5. Inefficient and error-prone EDI’s: The existing pre-alert EDI did not contain documents - which caused effort in extracting them from emails and manually uploading them. EDI’s also had to be triggered manually by origin agents and required manual entering BKB’s shipper/ consignee codes, which led to errors and data inconsistencies - costing significant time for both sides.

The implementation of AGX at BKB Globe followed a structured onboarding process

The main agent in China was the initial focus, with subsequent expansion to include other agents. During the onboarding process, AGX facilitated rapid training and proficiency, ensuring that agents became proficient with the platform within a short period.

Key elements of the onboarding process included:

Training Sessions: AGX provided comprehensive training sessions to the BKB Globe team and their agents in Chinese and English, ensuring they possessed the necessary skills to effectively use the platform.   2. Integration with Riege Scope: The EDI connection between AGX and Riege Scope (TMS), a new system for AGX back in the day, was completed in only a few months. The EDI includes documents and, as data is sent from AGX and not the agents’ TMS, one integration allows BKB to receive consistently high data quality across all their agents working on AGX - regardless of whether they are integrated with AGX.

The onboarding process successfully facilitated a smooth transition to AGX, ensuring the platform met BKB Globe's unique needs and operational requirements.
